CBE’s Inaugural
Summit 19 was
a success!
CBE’s Inaugural Summit 19 brought together over 600 Black Professionals across sectors for two days of networking, community building, and elevation. Our programming focused on bringing together Black professionals across a variety of industries (entertainment, tech, law, health, finance, and more), to provide a unique, well-rounded educational and networking experience. Speakers included fortune 500 executives and Board members, government officials, leading activist, health professionals, entrepreneurs, and a host of others.
Over the course of two days participants had the unique opportunity to:
- talk to recruiters from over 15 leading companies at the Career Fair;
- listen to industry experts such as Stacy Brown-Philpot, CEO of TaskRabbit, John Thompson, Chairman of Microsoft, Meena Harris, Founder of the Phenomenal Woman Action Campaign, Mayor London Breed, Judge Teri Jackson, Quita Highsmith, Head of Alliance and Advocacy Relations Genentech, Malia M. Cohen, Chair, California State and a host of others. See the full list of 2019 speakers here.
- Participate in the Pitch Competition, where CBE provided a platform for entrepreneurs of all ages—high school, higher education, and professionals—to present their ventures, receive feedback, and start to build relationships with investors and customers! In 2019 our four winners received $3k each;
- Participate in Legal Pitch Day, where Black attorneys from 12 law firms were given an opportunity to meet with in-house counsel from Zendesk, VMWare, Visa, PayPal, Oakland City Attorney, eBay, Apple, Chevron, and Facebook to discuss opportunities for working together; and
